Dr. Nicholas Darby, MD, FAAFP
Dr. Nicholas Darby obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and is a distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a native of Lauderdale County and pursued all of his medical education in his home state of Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences-Rural Community Health, and from Freed-Hardeman University with Honors with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and minors in Spanish and music. He served as chief resident during his time at Cahaba-UAB Family Medicine Residency and has also has enjoyed roles as a clinical professor for nurse practitioner and medical students.
Dr. Darby has been serving the Shoals area through Florence Medical Associates since 2019. His professional interests are lifestyle optimization, holistic healthcare, preventive medicine, judicious medication use, and the importance of primary care in healthcare systems. He has a passion for serving medically in rural and international communities.
He is married to Andrea Chambers Darby. He and his wife have one daughter and are members of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. He enjoys challenging himself through exercise, playing piano, kayaking and other outdoor activities, and spending time with his family who all live nearby.
